This meme is originally a car salesman explaining something about the car he’s selling to a potential customer. I photoshopped the car out of the picture and replaced it with a brain. The idea of the meme is that instead of having a lot of something in a car such as safety features or leg room, it’s a brain that can fit a lot of depression or mental illness into it.
I made this meme because I wanted it to focus on mental health and how lightly we discuss mental health issues in our everyday lives.
Most people in my generation seem to be in this “I want to die” culture, which isn’t by any means a good thing. Generally we make jokes about people wanting to die to avoid things like paying student loans or having to deal with miniscule life tasks.
The other day, my friend said she wanted to die because she had an assignment that she didn’t want to do. I knew it was a joke, and that she obviously didn’t want to die, but that doesn’t mean suicide should be something we acceptingly joke about.
According to Time Magazine, suicide rates have reached record heights. The last time they were as high as they are currently was during WWII (Ducharme, 2019). That’s Crazy.
This meme is for people in high school or college who have seen or heard themselves or others joking about suicide. It’s safe to say that something as minuscule as going to class shouldn’t merit a joke about taking your own life.
Hopefully, people will think twice next time about making a suicide joke.
